What Can NDIS do for Anxiety
The NDIS is the National Disability Insurance Scheme in Australia and it aims to provide better access to high-quality, personalized and innovative supports and services for people with disabilities and their carers to enhance their independence, social, and economic participation. If a person has a long-term disability resulting from a mental health condition, also known as a psychosocial disability, they may be eligible for NDIS funding for anxiety support services.
The NDIS can fund personal care support, community access support, nutritional support, skill development, transport, household tasks, and behavioral support. Anxiety can be a cause of psychosocial disabilities but is not a disability in and of itself. Psychosocial disabilities describe disabilities that arise due to mental health issues, including psychiatric and mood disorders, as well as anxiety disorders. The NDIS can help people with mental health issues by partnering with existing, community-based services to provide personal care, community participation, life skills development, and support coordination.
